The Early Days.
Our founder and grandfather, David Mosner, was the son of Eastern European immigrants; a self-taught man, who began working at an early age. Upon his return from service in World War II, David continued his family's trade and set out to begin his career in New York City's competitive meat industry.
After working in New York City's Meatpacking District, legend has it that a denied request for a five dollar per week raise propelled David to branch out on his own. Those who knew our grandfather, however, saw a man that was naturally entrepreneurial and held great conviction to his values and ideas. In the early 1950's, David took a small loan from his father-in-law, purchased a used station wagon and entered into business as a sole proprietor. Against the odds, David grew his company into one of the premier niche protein processors on the East Coast.

Mosner Family Brands was incorporated in 1957 and had its first home at 631 Brook Avenue in the Bronx, New York. In 1973, David saw an opportunity to expand and became an original shareholder of the Hunts Point Cooperative Market, the world's largest food distribution center.
David’s sons, Michael and Philip, joined their father in the early 1980’s and continued to propel the company forward by diversifying its product offerings and leading with a customer-centric, service-driven approach, which have continued to be core principles of our business today.

Our Story Continues.
In our third generation of family management, Mosner Family Brands initiated a shift from the company’s former protein-specific model to a mission-based approach to business. In doing so, we dedicated ourselves to the creation of wellness protein programs and set the company off in a new direction. Mosner Family Brands is one of the pioneers of the local food movement, having promoted New York State and regional farms dedicated to animal welfare and sustainability for more than twenty years. Today, our customers know us for the full portfolio of protein programs and services that we offer, including beef, pork, poultry, lamb, veal and exotic game meats.
